APPEAL DETAILS
- In 2019 our friend Michael Pelko was convicted of murdering his friend since childhood, Izat Morrar. He received a sentence of 55 years. With new forensic phone technology, proving up factual evidence for the defense, we seek to have Mike Pelko exonerated.
- He was convicted by circumstantial evidence. The crucial factor in the case is the classic "can't be in two places at the same time." Izat Morrar was discovered in a Chicago alley, 50 minutes away from Pelko's home in Willow Springs. What is certain is that Pelko took a CME business phone call around the time of the murder. What is also certain is that his phone was in Willow Springs. The prosecution argued that a piece of software on the phone allowed it to be remotely answered. New forensic phone evidence, can now prove, this software did NOT allow for that capability.
- In recent years, technology evolved, which can not only place the location of the phone but can show that it was answered manually (swiped) and was moving about the house as Pelko was on the call. We engaged the services of a top mobile forensics company to prove this is the case. There are other pieces of evidence as well, which will prove Pelko's innocence. We are asking for help to fund this effort. Pelko has already served 5 years for a crime he did not commit.
Our Mission
- Some friends have already funded a forensic digital analyst who will be able to access information from cell phone records to show that Mike was indeed in Willow Springs, and that the phone could not have been remotely answered because the phone was moving physically around the house. How We Use Donations
- We are committed to being transparent about how we use the donations we receive. 100% of all donations go directly to attorney's fees. If money remains it will be returned on pro rata basis.
